The Minneapolis Aquatennial Ambassador Organization kicked off its Ambassador Candidate Program on Tuesday with the Candidate Community Luncheon where two of its annual awards were presented to outstanding community volunteers.
This year's recipient of the Minnesota Community Award was the community of Cokato! The award is presented to an ambassador program that has participated in the Aquatennial Ambassador Candidate Program and has developed an outstanding ambassador program in their community that reflects the Values and Mission of the AAO. The award was first presented in 2015 to the community of Northfield.
A new award was presented at the Community Luncheon - the Outstanding Honorary Commodore Award.
Throughout the year, the Ambassador Crew recognizes outstanding volunteers from the communities they visit with the Honorary Commodore Award. From these recipients, a committee from the AAO selected one outstanding Honorary Commodore.
The award was presented to Gerry & Don Smith of Waverly in recognition of their exemplary service to their community, which resulted in the enrichment of the lives of their community's residents and visitors.
These are just two of the awards the AAO presents in recognition of community service, leadership and scholarship each year. For the full list of AAO's Annual Awards, please visit www.aquatennialamabassadors.com/awards.
