AAO Announces 2017 Aquatennial Events

The AAO announced the public events it will host during the 2017 Aquatennial festival via a video posted to its social media outlets on Tuesday.

A total of seven events will be offered in July. A notable change this year is the Alumni Boat Cruise sponsored by Paradise Charter Cruises and the Mississippi Queen has moved to Monday to act as a social kick-off for AAO Alumni and will feature a special recognition for Alumni celebrating a milestone anniversary.

Another big change for 2017 is the Meet the Candidates event, which has taken place in the City Center rotunda in recent years, will be returning to the IDS Crystal Court.

AAO is proud to be partnering again this year with Millennium Minneapolis as its Official Host Hotel for the Ambassador Candidates, International Visiting Dignitaries, and Aquatennial Ambassador Crew. Several AAO events will also take place at the Millennium including Rockin' the Waves featuring DJ Andrew Larson of Resonance Sound & Lighting.

Also new this year is a pre-sale opportunity for ambassador alumni and 2017 AAO Members. An AAO website account is required to gain access to the pre-sale portal, which will open on May 20. Comp tickets to Aquatennial events were removed as a benefit for AAO Members back in November of 2016 citing IRS gift reporting requirements.

Tickets will open to the public on June 1 at www.aquatennialambassadors.com/events.

Proceeds of AAO Events support the Aquatennial Ambassador Scholarship Fund. The Aquatennial festival is produced by the Minneapolis Downtown Council.
