Hazeltine National Golf Club and the Twin Cities Metro Area had the honor of hosting the 2016 Ryder Cup - the premiere event in professional golf - and AAO Volunteers were there in force!
The Ryder Cup opened up its concession stands as fundraising opportunities for local non-profit and community organizations. Thanks to the efforts of AAO Volunteers Cindy Shanley and Terri Johnson, the AAO was among those organizations chosen to benefit from the Ryder Cup.
AAO Volunteers served beer, sodas, water and other beverages, as well as, chips to golf fans near the 4th hole. With fans from around the world, Terri Johnson stated the hardest part was, "trying to find their birthday on drivers licenses or passports to make sure they were over 21!"
Over the 4 days of play, 43 AAO Volunteers logged over 280 total service hours. As incentives they received complimentary admission and parking to the tournament, a Ryder Cup hat, and lunch during their shift.
Thank you to all of the AAO Volunteers who donated their time at Oasis #4 during the Ryder Cup! If you were one of the volunteers, we invite you to leave comments about your experience below.
